It's something a lot of people always want to see.
I think a lot of these space 4x games forget that one of the few universal beating hearts of sci-fi is Star Trek, which is about an exploration ship, one that's not a piddly little civilian ship with a single tiny weapon slapped on. Having the option to make an exploration "cruiser" though would be nice, something that by itself could fight off ambush curiosities. I personally don't see the "need" for larger exploration hulls as I just put them into fleets that protect them or add extra probes. Also remember horatio exploration ships can stack 4 probes modules, so we aren't even talking about that much of an increase. According to what I read at the 'endless space' forums. The only advantage of having more on one ship is the vision range, but the vision range you could achieve with a larger ship full of probes would still fall far short of what heroes can add to a fleet.

You can stack exploration ships though and get hundreds of probes from one fleet. That amount of probe spamming will be completely ridiculous and breaks the game entirely. There's a huge universe out there to explore in Endless Space 2, filled with resources to exploit, civilizations to encounter, and enemies to crush beneath your galactic boot heel As with many of these futuristic 4X-style games, there's a staggering number of elements to juggle and a whole lot of gameplay options you might not even realize you. Imagine an upgraded Coordinator ship with 5 support module slots all filled with probes.
